Praxis type explosion
The original posting of this was an earlier test rendering. This is
pretty much the final version. Its not meant to be a copy of the Praxis
explosion as I assume that was done with the sexy particle effects of
alias/wavefront (?) but its my interpretation of it.
It took one evening to set up and then about 2 or 3 more to tweek with
renderings in between. It was created on a P90 with 32Mb using Win95
and LW5. All textures are standard LW procedural, marble, fractal noise,
fractal bump and grid. Rendering was a right pain. The first 65 frames
rendered real slow (16min+ a frame at only 320x200 using enhanced AA
and 60% particle blur) but the rest where pretty quick. I think this
was due to the single point polys being so close together near the beginning.
As they get further apart things speed up. I suppose I could have eleviated
this with an object replacement. But I didn't so its my own fault.
The final avi was put together in Premier with each of the 120 frames doubled
up to 2 frames each. This made the anim longer and slowed it down. This didn't
cause much noticable degredation to the quality but made the explosion seem
bigger. The slight juttering every second is due to the keyframes of the avi.
Any serious comments and advice would be very welcome.
